I purchased two versions of the Porter Street Timex women’s watches. I love the Indiglo backlit faces of both watches–very handy to have in the dark! I also like that both are water resistant. The two-tone stainless steel “bracelet” model has a dressy feel but is appropriate for dress/business/casual wear, 1 inch face is white, face frame is gold. Silver and gold on face and bracelet allow the watch to coordinate with other pieces of either silver or gold jewelry. The link bracelet was too large for my wrist but links can be removed by a jeweler to fit The black leather strap model of this watch has a sportier feel but still feminine look and size, 1 inch face is black, face frame is silver.

I like to use a Timex Indiglo watch when I travel because it’s useful, inexpensive and doesn’t make me a target for thieves. The design of this watch is sporty but elegant. It’s not fancy, but just dressy enough to look a little nicer than a field watch with a leather or cloth band which I use for hiking. I bought this watch because a similar Timex watch I’ve had for 6 years stopped functioning.

I have a small wrist and inevitably when I buy a new watch of any type I need to have a jeweler take some links out of the bracelet. This one is great because, besides being a stretch band, it’s extremely easy to take out some links. The watch comes with instructions and you don’t need any tools — just your fingers! I was happy not to have to run to a jeweler to make the band smaller. I took out 4 links and now it fits perfectly. It only took about 5 minutes!

The face has gold Arabic numerals and a gold second hand. It’s pretty and the numbers are large enough to read easily. It doesn’t look like a cheap watch, and the band doesn’t even really look like a stretch band.

So far I’m very happy with this watch, and I hope it lasts longer than my last Timex. I do have other Timex watches which are still going strong, so I’m not sure what happened to the one that broke (I never abused it or wore it in the water).

This watch has a slightly smaller face than I imagined from the web and more delicate figures. It would not be suitable for anyone with failing eyesite, which is why I rate it 4 instead of 5. Also the bracelet is very large, which for most customers will mean a trip to the local jewellers to have the links taken out.

Definitely not “brand new” – guard normally inserted between stem and watch was missing and so watch was running, plus case for watch was missing parts, watch was loose in box because of this. Not very well packaged either, but made it here in one piece. The strap is extra large and pieces can only be removed with a special tool by a jeweler – not as described in the instructions. Exactly as shown.
